You never know when you’ll meet someone who will make a difference in what you are doing. In this case, it started with the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce. NEW PAWSibilities had a membership but rarely attended meetings and networking opportunities. When I came on board I decided to start getting involved in the Chamber.
My first Tuesday morning meeting I saw a ten-minute presentation from Laurel Coombs, Tasting Room Manager and Accounting Manager at Rushford Meadery & Winery in Omro. After I shared with the group about NEW PAWSibilities Laurel introduced herself and asked about the possibility of hosting a Valentine’s Day fundraiser. She and her husband, Shane, have two fantastic dogs. Tannin is a German Short Hair Pointer and is their Branch Manager, he can be found roaming the grounds keeping critters at bay and bringing back fire fodder. Pearl is a Havanese and she is the scout, always on the lookout for visitors, she’s happy to see new people stop by.
My husband visited them one Monday soon after and what a great place. I love wine, small businesses, and dog-friendly businesses yet this place was not on my radar. Well, it is now. They operate out of an old elementary school and they make and serve delicious wine and mead. They pair the tastings with fruits, chocolate, chocolate, and other appropriate foods. We met their dogs, toured the highly impressive facility and fell in love. There was no question that we would have to do a fundraiser there.
With Valentine’s Day landing on a Thursday and several other options, we chose March 2 and things started falling into place.
We went back with Coconut this week so we could deliver posters and tickets and our dogs fell in love. They say that a tired dog is a good dog and after his romp and play with Tannin he was a great dog.
We are so excited to not only have a fundraiser but to introduce you to this killer winery. They host many events, they sell bottles to take home, gift items, and so much more.
We both hope to see you at Wine and Wags on March 2, but I hope you all will stop by and support what they do. They also sell beer, soda, and water for those who are not into wine. Or, maybe they will turn you into a wine lover!
Thank you Laurel, Shane, Tannin, and Pearl for opening your fabulous location for what I know will be a fun time. Sure, we want to make money for the Spay/Neuter Fund. But we also want all these incredible dog lovers to hang out and eat, drink, listen to music, and spend money for a good cause.
