I collect memes if you have not noticed. I’ve had this one sitting around for months.
If you see someone being ignored, find a way to include them. If someone has been knocked down, lift them up. … One small act could mean the world to them.
Every day when I decide what to post I look at this meme. Not today, I say. Let me think about it.
But today is the day. Tomorrow we are getting another transport in. These are, for the most part, dogs who were strays. Maybe they were abused and taken out of the home. Maybe they ran away and no one found them because there was no collar or tag or microchip. Maybe they were starving, ignored, or chained outside. We don’t usually know their story but we know that if it was a perfect story these dogs would not be in a high-kill shelter waiting for a rescue shelter up north to put them in a van after surgery to bring them to safety. If it was a perfect story they’d be in their homes living the life of Riley.
We have an extraordinary shelter partner in the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. The find the dogs being ignored and knocked down. They rescue them and the NEW PAWSibilities rescues them again. We include them and lift them up. This one small thing of choosing these exact dogs from an Excel sheet filled with dogs is actually a huge thing. It literally means the world to them. It means life.
And so do you. On Friday and Saturday, bios will magically appear on the site and on Facebook. You’ll have the opportunity to make a difference. We still have eighteen dogs ready for adoption today and these new dogs will make for a full shelter.
The rest of the meme says, “Always remind people of their worth. One small act could mean the world to them.” Let’s swap out the word people for dogs because we need to remind these dogs of their worth. For those who have been rescued and are in new homes, it will be an ongoing process to remind them of their worth. But that process is so worth it.
You are the best at forwarding our dogs to others who are looking, spreading the word about what we do, donating, volunteering. We appreciate the way you continually lift us up. You are why we continue rescuing dogs. Without you dogs would not be lifted up, would not live to be shown their worth.
Thank you.
