There are so many things we can learn from dogs. I knew they were “man’s best friend” and of course I knew about their loyalty. But there are so many other things we can learn from our dogs.
Since getting Coconut I’ve gotten to meet many new neighbors, I’ve enjoyed all different architectural styles, and I’ve gotten tons of exercise. I had a fancier life back home, I did more exotic activities. But now that I’ve had Coconut almost two years I’ve learned the simple delight that comes from leisurely walks. I walked all the time before but it was always with a purpose to get from point A to point B. Having a dog has helped me to breathe deeply and meander and to see things from the height of a dog because it’s a truly interesting perspective.
Owning an old house and trying to make it the best house possible means I am unleashing new talents. They might not be as fun as sitting, shaking hands, or rolling over, but I’m right on pace with Coconut on gardening and learning how to walk on ice.
Coconut has the same hiding spot for his snack as I do. In our bellies! Yeah, we have the same self-control I think.
Coconut makes a new friend every day and between you guys, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary, and walks with my pup I am making lots of new friends and that makes living in a new state much easier to handle.
The best new trick I’ve learned since adopting Coconut has been to research and write about dogs. I knew nothing about man’s best friend until I started volunteering a few weeks after getting Coconut. You nor your dog are ever too old to learn new tricks!
Coconut has this one down pat. I can be gone a minute, a day, a week, or more and he will drop everything to run and greet me like his life was a Shakespearean tragedy the whole time we were apart. Isn’t that a nice thing for us to experience and also a perfect way to treat those we love.
We can learn so much from a dog but not if we don’t have one. If you are looking for the perfect life coach why not come see us to choose a dog who will teach you more than you ever thought possible. It’s life-changing and you’ll also be saving a life!
